An Axe and a Piece of Wood

We constantly hear criticism of what Bush has done in Iraq.

In effect Bush is trying to reform Iraq in the middle of a war.

Bush builds a motor car with an axe and a piece of wood. Kerry complains that the #3 cylinder is misfiring and the friction losses are too high.

There is a portion of the population that not only wants miracles but perfect miracles.

An astute (and articulate) observation.

Of course, this assumes that building a car with an axe and a piece of wood is a worthwhile project. I don't want miracles. I just want someone to plan the construction of a car before attacking a piece of wood with my axe. We also have metal and wrenches and other tools lying around that might be useful.

I'd also like someone who is willing to say, "You know, these square blocks of wood aren't working so well for wheels. Perhaps we should consider other designs, too."

..and there's another group of people who don't want the Iraqi people to have a car at all; they want them continue walking forever...because to do otherwise might offend the god-of-things-as-they-are, worshipped by so many who call themselves "progressives.'
