Acorn Encourages Child Prostitution And Tax Cheating

This has been making the rounds. I thought it might be good to have those who missed it see it. Also watch Part 2.

This is so utterly depraved that it beggars belief. Now don't get me wrong. I'm not a fan of prostitution (loveless sex doesn't interest me), but if adults want to engage in that sort of thing it is their business. But importing children for sex slavery is so beyond the pale I can hardly imagine what was going through the minds of the descendants of slaves giving advice on how to pull off this depravity with government money.

And we are getting the usual "isolated incident" crap from the usual suspects. And then this video surfaces. So what I want to know is when is ACORN going to be RICOed? Judging by the Black Panther case just dismissed by Obama's Justice Department, not any time soon.

Just so you know, ACORN is slated to get billions in stimulus money. I do not believe that abetting child prostitution was ever the kind of stimulus most Americans had in mind.

It seems Mr. Obama has had an ongoing relationship with ACORN.

While Barack Obama's connection with the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) has not gone entirely unreported, it has not been fully explained. Most media background pieces simply note Obama's involvement in a 1995 lawsuit on behalf of ACORN. Obama's own website, as well as most major media, fail to reveal the full depth and extent of his relationship with the organization.

Attempts to hide evidence of Obama's involvement with ACORN have included wiping the web clean of potentially damaging articles that had appeared, and were previously publicly accessible. Unfortunately, those behind the attempted cover-up failed to realize that in today's day and age, nothing disappears forever. There also exists another layer of the web, the hidden web, which is full of information included in proprietary scholarly databases where these very same "missing" articles can be easily uncovered.

Obama's campaign website states:

Fact: Barack was never an ACORN trainer and never worked for ACORN in any other capacity.

Is that really a FACT, or just another lie? Let's take a look at a quote from a 2004 article - Case Study: Chicago- The Barack Obama Campaign - written by Toni Foulkes, a Chicago ACORN Leader, which was published in the journal Social Policy. Did we mention that Social Policy recently pulled this particular article from their website, while leaving links to all other articles up?

"Obama took the case, known as ACORN vs. Edgar (the name of the Republican governor at the time) and we won. Obama then went on to run a voter registration project with Project VOTE in 1992 that made it possible for Carol Moseley Braun to win the Senate that year. Project VOTE delivered 50,000 newly registered voters in that campaign (ACORN delivered about 5,000 of them).

Since then, we have invited Obama to our leadership training sessions to run the session on power every year, and, as a result, many of our newly developing leaders got to know him before he ever ran for office. Thus it was natural for many of us to be active volunteers in his first campaign for State Senate and then his failed bid for U.S. Congress in 1996. By the time he ran for U.S. Senate, we were old friends."

So Obama is an "old friend" of ACORN? What a surprise.

What is that I hear? A bus revving up? It looks like ACORN may be about to get thrown under the bus. Along with the Rev. Wright and Mr. Obama's very own granny. Evidently the bus has already started to roll.

Conservatives have cheered the Census Bureau's decision to sever ties with ACORN because it had lost confidence in the group, but the hidden-camera videos that prompted ACORN to fire four workers this week could raise more questions about the federal funding ACORN receives for housing outreach.

ACORN Housing Corporation received $1.6 million to provide housing services to low-income communities in this fiscal year, ending Sept. 30, according to USASpending.gov, a federal government Web site for tracking government grants.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development Grants has given $8.2 million to ACORN in the years between 2003 and 2006, as well as $1.6million to ACORN affiliates.

Talk about a culture of corruption. However, the destruction of ACORN will not be sufficient if another organization rises up to take its place. Or if only a few token bad apples take the fall. The whole rotten structure must be brought down. And that is going to require at minimum a new Congress and probably a new president. We have to keep the heat on these low lifes. My advice:

The price of Liberty is Eternal Vigilance.

And I'm not the first to say that. Not by a long shot. The recent March Against Washington is a step in the right direction.

Danica Patrick's Beaver

I'm so out of it that I missed Danica Patrick's beaver last year. Danica is a local girl from Roscoe, Illinois, about 10 miles from where I live as the crow flies. A little longer if the beaver swims the Rock River.

And you know what else I missed? Danica was in the Sports Illustrated swim suit edition looking very demurely athletic. As you can see from the photo below.
I hope this warms you up this cold winter day. And please share some of that warmth with your significant other. And if you can't share it with you're significant other share it with the one you're with.

A Government So Inept It Couldn't Make A Profit On A Whorehouse

It seems our government has a problem running businesses. Even businesses that should be a guaranteed profit without significant expertise required. Like selling liquor and sex.

Back in 1990, the Government seized the Mustang Ranch brothel in Nevada for tax evasion and, as required by law, tried to run it. They failed and it closed. Now we are trusting the entire economy of our country to same guys who couldn't make money running a whore house and selling booze?

So now the government is going to run car companies? My bet? There will soon be cars, some without tires, some without steering wheels, and others without engines piled up in warehouses awaiting buyers who are sure to come. Some day.

They will get sold as government surplus and some one will make a profit getting them in running order and selling them to customers who want to buy them at a price they can afford. So let me ask you, if the people in the auto business in Detroit are so smart, workers and management, why can't they do it without government help? After all they have only had 30 years since the last bail out to figure it out.

Well OK. Cars are hard and whorehouses are unusual. Maybe the government would be better with medical services.

Drug War Encourages Prostitution

I have recently posted on how the drug war fuels the the war on guns.

Evidently by keeping prices for some drugs high it also fuels prostitution.

Anneli Alderton, 24, had been an "excellent student", spending part of her childhood in Cyprus and becoming bilingual, her mother Maire Alderton said.

But when she moved back to Ipswich at the age of 14 her life went off the rails when her father died and she turned to prostitution to fund her drug habit. She had been in prison four times.

Now I can't think of a major politician who isn't against drugs and prostitution (unless you count Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich as major and they only cover drugs). And yet their fight against these social problems only makes them worse. Of course the government is only here to help. And when - like Sharia - there is a law for everything we will certainly have a perfect world. Unless Le Chatelier's Principle intervenes. Short version - you push on a balloon in one place, it tends to expand in others to compensate.

In any case these wars on vice are typical Republican Socialism. Price Supports for vice and crime.

Look For The Union Label

Michael van der Galiën is reporting on the latest news from Amsterdam's red light district.

The Red Light District is a neighborhood in Amsterdam where women sit, barely dressed, behind windows, while trying to persuade passersby to come inside to have some good ol’ fun. Most of these women are from Eastern Europe, and, contrary to prejudice, beautiful. They wear incredibly revealing clothes; their beautiful, long legs are spread out as if they want to welcome you… OK, sorry about that, what I mean to say is: it’s the prostitute district.

Sadly for those of us who like to look at beautiful women – and even sadder for those who actually want to use their services – Amsterdam has decided to clean up the neighborhood. This week, Amsterdam Mayor Job Cohen said that prostitution and drugs shouldn’t be made illegal, but that he nonetheless wants to shut down the “shops” where prostitutes are sitting behind windows. This, of course, is exactly what made the Red Light District so famous.

The reason for the decision to clean up the city is that the approach taken back in 2000 isn’t working. Back then the city (and government) decided to legalize prostitution. They hoped that this would improve the conditions under which prostitutes worked and that criminals would make less money off these women.

Sadly, the plan didn’t quite work out so well.

Cohen himself explains: “We want in part to reverse it, especially with regard to the exploitation of women in the sex industry.” He added that “[w]e have seen in the last years that women trafficking has been becoming more [prevalent], so in this respect the legalizing of the prostitution didn’t work out.”

It has been my belief for quite some time that making prostitution legal would reduce the trade to those women who actually wanted to work in it. I thought that the illegality was keeping some prostitutes from coming forward to the police about their personal situation. Sadly I was mistaken.

“The city will force escort services and ‘security’ firms for prostitutes, which usually are not registered businesses, to obtain a license, a fixed address and telephone line, and subject them to financial auditing,” Cohen told reporters.

Such a move would result in a decrease in sex tourism, however, which means that the city will earn less money, at least in the short run. As a result, some citizens oppose the plans. Prostitute unions (yes, they’ve got their own unions down here) are especially unhappy.

Red Thread (one such union) spokeswoman, Metje Blaak, told the AFP, that “[s]ome 200 jobs are threatened.” She went on to say: “The situation will not get better for the women.”

Sadly for Mrs. Blaak, cracking down on prostitution won’t make life as such more difficult for the prostitutes themselves, but for their pimps and other criminals who get rich by exploiting these women.

This is so sad. However, reality is what it is. As Michael points out.

But other cities aren’t following in Amsterdam’s footsteps. This means that sex tourists can come to one of the other cities mentioned in this article if their wives aren’t enough for them and if they are willing to spend money to have sex with a woman who had sex with approximately 500 other men.

In the end, no matter what the government does, the oldest profession will never disappear. We can push it back into the shadows, and we can limit the damage it does - directly and indirectly - to society, but we will never succeed in completely erasing it from our cities.

If only Americans could see it that way. It is difficult to help people forced to live in the shadows. They are hard to find.

And as long as I'm at it. What about the War On Drugs? The same applies.

Perils Of Global Warming

Commenter papertiger brings this charming story to my attention:

Brothel owners in Bulgaria are now reportedly having trouble attracting workers. The owners claim the best prostitutes have moved to ski resorts, where they entertain tourists who cannot ski because of a lack of snow.

"We have hired students, but they are temps and nothing like our elite girls," Petra Nestorova, who runs an escort agency in Sofia, told the United Kingdom's Metro newspaper.

I get a scent of desperation from the Bulgarians. I wonder how soon before the ski season will be over?
