Power And Control

I was having a discussion with Eric via e-mail about blogging and decided to Google Power and Control. My blog comes out on top of course (we bloggers are a very competitive lot - Hey "M. Simon", "M Simon", and "MSimon" searches all have my blog, Power and Control, at the top - but I digress). What interested me was the other numerous links dealing with Power and Control. Or to put it as this blog did:

Power and Control over males

Which relates to this image:

The site gave me this link to another place that had this to say:

We can not promote Fatherhood by denigrating Fathers. We can not promote Fatherhood by incentivizing single motherhood. We can not solve all of our neighbor’s arguments.

Which reminds me of a girl I once dated for a rather long while. She would agitate and agitate until I assaulted her. A punch in the arm or similar. And I had never beat a woman before in my life. Ever. And I had been with a LOT of women. Well one day I told her I had enough and was never going to touch her that way again. She LITERALLY kicked me out of her apartment. Best kick in the ass I ever got. Naturally that relationship ended. I was quite fortunate not to have encountered the legal system over the matter. My ass would have been grass. Which is to say some women want to be beat and are not enough in touch with their desires to articulate their desires. Putting the onus on the man. Clever.

Which led me to a book:

I Hate You--Don't Leave Me: Understanding the Borderline Personality

From a review:
I found this book to be very useful in helping me understand the behavior of a woman with whom I was involved. It was recommended to me by my therapist who was treating me for depression because of the traumatic relationship I had with a borderline.

Kreisman and Straus do an excellent job of explaining the root causes, behaviors, and treatment of the disorder as well as coping skills for dealing with a person with BPD. Although the relationship was turbulent and ended disastrously, I found a great deal of comfort in the book because it explained how and why a borderline behaves the she does. I learned that I indeed had narcissistic tendencies which drew me toward women with clinging and idealizing behavior, but then devaluating and vengeful behavior. Basically I was involved in a hostile/dependent ( narcissistic / borderline ) relationship. It made me take a serious look at my self. I also have learned to be a lot more cautious about who I relate with in my life.

Borderlines are not evil, just very vengeful and scared people. If you are involved in any capacity with someone who exhibits primitive idealization, devaluation, omnipotence, projection, or projective identification and seems irrational, this person may have BPD. This book will help you learn principles to help cope with a borderline. I sure wish I had access to it when I was involved with one.
The reviewer talks about "coping". I consider myself fortunate to be surviving.

I did have a relationship (short) before the above mentioned fiasco with a girl who wanted to be spanked. HARD. She did know herself enough to sorta ask for it. She was really in to it. I was not. By evening it was over. I still wonder to this day if it had something to do with her father being a pain inflicter (dentist). Where ever you are these days honey I hope you got and are still getting the pain you desire. From some one willing to give it to you. I'm glad it is not me.

The Taming

The best version of this I ever saw was in a traveling show that passed through Rockford one year. I was hoping for a pleasant evening and was WOWed.

This was brought to mind by Protecting Yourself While Divorcing Someone With Borderline or Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Of course "Kiss Me Kate" and "The Taming Of The Shrew" are all about this stuff. Before we had names for it in the case of Shakespeare.

I especially liked this comment:

23. toadold

Well it has been decades ago so I’m pretty sure everyone is well clear and dispersed. But the abdication of Judges and Lawyers in dealing with the wack jobs in family courts has been apparent for quite a long time. If you lack resources the system can destroy you financially. A consequence is that people will step outside the system, unintended consequences. An incident that I’m aware of involved an abusive mama’s boy who wouldn’t leave his ex-wife alone. Her brother gave him a warning an it was ignored. Shortly thereafter the wife beater was set upon and beat down to the point he had to be hospitalized, and his sports car that his mommy had bought him was set on fire. He never bothered the ex-wife again. The brother and all of the wife’s family members had a rock solid alibis for the incident. Some months afterwards the brother casually mentioned, “Amazing what you can get done for a few bottle of wine and some out of town bus tickets.”

Obviously the system can't keep going on the way it is. So it won't. People will find their way around if the official way doesn't work well.

Say. Did I mention Drug Prohibition?

A Date With A Brainiac

A really smart woman discusses the pleasures and pitfalls of high IQ dating.

Many people equate high IQ with “high achieving”, but they are two distinct things. Women with an above-average intelligence (IQ range of 110-130) are likely to be professionals: lawyers, nurses, dentists, mid-level civil servants, journalists, managers, teachers, pharmacists, librarians, or the like. High IQ women (those with an IQ>130) will tend toward more creative or “typically masculine” pursuits: surgery, engineering, research science, politics, philosophy, authorship, mathematics, music, art, architecture, high-level civil service, military office, or entrepreneurship. A woman would normally have to have unusually high visual-spatial scores in order to reach 130, which is why men outnumber women in that range and in those occupations.
Which is why intelligent women are so much in demand. They are rare birds compared to the number of high IQ men.

I have checked out the comments too and the vast majority are excellent. Also the blog hostess Alte chimes in frequently in the comments.
Posted by Alte on May 27, 2011 at 8:41 am

As to Chris’ comment, I thought it was relevant because of his assumption that having an “advanced degree” means that the women are high-IQ, but the majority of advanced degree holders are not high IQ. This is proven with simple statistics — there are way more advanced degree holders (6% of the adult population) than people of high IQ (2% of the adult population).

Add in the fact that most (58%) of those advanced degree holders are women but women are in the minority among those with high IQ, and that many people of high IQ don’t have advanced degrees, and it is just more proof of the fact that there is little direct correlation between advanced degrees and IQ>130. In other words, although someone of high IQ is more likely to have an advanced degree than someone chosen randomly from the general population, most people with advanced degrees are not high IQ — even those with prestigious degrees (technical schools like MIT or CalTech being the exception, as they select candidates with high v-s abilities).

You have to remember that high IQ is associated with DOE (over-excitability), which makes standardized education (i.e. college) very difficult for many of them. The women are also more likely to have highly fluctuating hormone levels, heavy and painful periods, and children with behavioral problems. All of those things mean that high IQ women who marry often fall out of the high-achievement pool rather quickly, which is one reason why homemaking is so prevalent at the very top of the income scales.
I had that problem with college sort of. I found women. Woo hoo! And I found them more exciting than the school work. Not to worry. I worked my way up to aerospace engineer completely bypassing the whole college thing.

The Women's Vote

I was looking at the women's vote in the 2008 election. And came across this:

Women's votes were a significant factor in Senator Barack Obama's victory, with a sizable gender gap evident in the election results....Women strongly preferred Obama to Senator John McCain (56 percent for Obama, 43 percent for McCain), unlike men, who split their votes about evenly for the two presidential candidates (49 percent for Obama, 48 percent for McCain).
The Republicans have their work cut out for them.

Take my own mate. I was telling her before the election that Obama would be a communist disaster. She voted for Obama anyway. When I asked her why, she said she didn't like Palin. Not because of Palin's policy positions. Nope. She didn't like the way Palin talked. Ugh.

BTW the mate now agrees with me that Obama is a disaster. And we voted in Illinois which went solidly for Obama. So two canceled votes. Not important. What is important is the attitude.

Sometimes I despair that we ever gave women the vote. Just kidding honey. Well, maybe not. (I'm in the dog house now - if she reads this).

They Declared War On Men

So, to review, if a woman has second thoughts about a tryst a few days later, she can, without penalty, ruin a man financially and send him to prison for 15 years. 'Feminists' consider this acceptable. At the same time, even though men consider being cuckolded a worse fate than being raped, 'feminists' want to make this easier for a woman to do, by preventing paternity testing. They already have rigged laws so that the man, upon 'no fault' divorce, has to pay alimony, to a woman who cuckolded him.

This is pure evil, ranking right up there with the worst tyrannies of the last century. Modern misandry masking itself as 'feminism' is, without equal, the most hypocritical ideology in the world today. The laws of a society are the DNA of that society. Once the laws are tainted, the DNA is effectively corrupted, and mutations to the society soon follow. Men have been killed due to 'feminism'. Children and fathers have been forcibly separated for financial gain via 'feminism'. Slavery has returned to the West via 'feminism'.

Shaming Language and Projection as a Substitute for Rational Debate : As discussed previously, any legitimate and polite questions about the fairness of anti-male realities in the legal system and media are quickly met with Pavlovian retorts of 'misogynist' and 'loser'.
Another bit I liked:
Lastly, the religious 'social conservatives' who continue their empty sermonizing about the 'sanctity of marriage' while doing absolutely nothing about the divorce-incentivizing turn that the laws have taken, have been exposed for their pseudo-moral posturing and willful blindness. What they claim to be of utmost importance to them has been destroyed right under their noses, and they still are too dimwitted to comprehend why. No other interest group in America has been such a total failure at their own stated mission. To be duped into believing that a side-issue like 'gay marriage' is a mortal threat to traditional marriage, yet miss the legal changes that correlate to a rise in divorce rates by creating incentives for divorce (divorce being what destroys marriage, rather than a tiny number of gays), is about as egregious an oversight as an astronomer failing to be aware of the existence of the Moon. Aren't conservatives the people who are supposed to grasp that incentives drive behavior? An article worthy of being written by The Onion could conceivably be titled 'Social conservatives carefully seek to maintain perfect 100% record of failure in advancing their agenda'.
Another good bit. It explains why current male/female conditions are a bubble. Look at the charts on the site for more information.
Lefto-'feminists' will be outbred and replaced very quickly, and rural American conservatives will be the only resiliently youthful population among all the world's white ethnicities. The state that lefto-'feminists' so admire will quickly turn on them once the state calculates that these women are neither producing new taxpayers nor new technologies, and will find a way to demote them from their present 'empowered' position of entitlement. If they thought having obligations to a husband was such an awful prospect, wait until they have obligations to the husband-substitute state.

Court Ordered Suicide

The title is a little extreme. But if you read the guy's long suicide note you might come to a different conclusion. Here is an excerpt to give you the flavor:

When then a man is arrested for domestic violence, one of two things can happen. If they are only dating and have separate apartments, then he can head home. But if they are living together, then this fellow has a real problem. Bail conditions and then a possible protective or restraining order prevent him from being with her. So he needs to find a new place to live, at least until the charges are resolved. The King of his Castle is no longer allowed into his castle. A feminist name Pence who wrote that was absolutely giddy at that outcome. So he can get his own place if he has enough money. Or he can move in with his mother, his sister or another relative. He might have a girl friend who would let him stay with her. And if none of this is possible, well then I guess he is sleeping in his car down by the river.

If he has minor children, money will soon turn into an issue. Most men I know do not mind paying child support. They want their kids to have food on their plates, clothes on their backs, and a roof over their heads. But it does stress that man's finances. Child support is usually 33% of the man's gross income. Withholding for taxes, social security and health insurance can range up to 28% of his gross paycheck. So a man making $500 a week gross has only $825 monthly left over after withholding and child support. That is not enough money for an apartment here in Central Massachusetts. That does not include other expenses like heating, electric, gas, groceries, telephone, cable, car payment and car insurance. So he is in a financial hole. Estimates of homeless men run 82% to 94%. I am going to round that down to 80%.

After the King has left his castle, his wife runs into a problem. She was use to getting his whole paycheck for the household. Now she get a third for child support. Figure they both work and made the same money, her budget went from 100% down to 66%. If she was running the house on $3,045. a month when the King was home, now without him she only has $2,220. Most households in America cannot withstand a 27% hit on the household account. She'll juggle the bills but eventually most wives figure out that they can pay all the smaller bills if they just does not pay the big bill. That would be the rent or the mortgage. So six to nine months after the King is out of the castle, the Queen, the Princes and the Princesses are also on the street. Domestic violence feminists state that 50% of victim spouses of domestic violence end up homeless at some time in their lives.

The last group of homeless from these arrests are children. The domestic violence feminists state that 70% of domestic violence couple have children. So 50% female times 70% children equals 35%. But children is plural. So we will double to 70%.
He goes on with facts, figures, and anguish for 15 pages (all on one page at the www site). The Man's name?

Tom Ball

RIP Tom. We'll see what we can do.

For Women: Operating Instructions For The Generic Man

I got this in an e-mail. Origin unknown. For my female readers learn these by heart. Most of them apply to most men. And if you need an endorsement: the first mate agrees with me.

=====

Women, learn to work the toilet seat. You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down.

Birthdays, Valentines, and Anniversaries are not considered by us to be opportunities to see if we can find the perfect present again!

Sometimes we are not thinking about you. Live with it.

Sunday = sports. It's like the full moon or the changing of the tides. Let it be.

Don't cut your hair. Ever. Long hair is always more attractive than short hair. One of the big reasons guys fear getting married is that married women always cut their hair, and by then you're stuck with her.

Ask for what you want. Subtle hints do not work! Strong hints do not work! Obvious hints do not work! Just say it!

We don't remember dates. . . .Period!!

Most guys own three pairs of shoes - tops. What makes you think we'd be any good at choosing which pair, out of thirty, would look good with your dress?

Yes and No are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question.

Come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it. That's what we do. Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for.

A headache that lasts for 17 months is a problem. See a doctor.

Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument. In fact, all comments become null and void after 7 days.

If you won't dress like the Victoria's Secret girls, don't expect us to act like soap opera guys.

If you think you're fat, you probably are. Don't ask us. We've been tricked before!!

If something we said can be interpreted two ways, and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the other one.

Let us ogle. We are going to look anyway; it's genetic.

You can either ask us to do something or tell us how you want it done. Not both. If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself.

Whenever possible, please say whatever you have to say during commercials.

Christopher Columbus did not need directions, and neither do we.

The relationship is never going to be like it was the first two months we were going out. Get over it. And quit whining to your girlfriends.

ALL men see in only 16 colors, like Windows default settings. Peach, for example, is a fruit, not a color. Pumpkin is also a fruit. We have no idea what mauve is.

If it itches, it will be scratched. We do that.

We are not mind readers and we never will be. Our lack of mind-reading ability is not proof of how little we care about you.

If we ask what is wrong and you say "nothing", we will act like nothing's wrong. We know you are lying, but it is just not worth the hassle.

If you ask a question you don't want an answer to, expect an answer you don't want to hear.

Don't ask us what we're thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as navel lint, the shotgun formation, or monster trucks.

Foreign films are best left to foreigners. (Unless it's Bruce Lee or some war flick where it doesn't really matter what they're saying anyway.)

BEER is as exciting for us as handbags are for you.

Thank you for reading this; Yes, I know, I have to sleep on the couch tonight, but did you know, it's like camping.

My Charlie Sheen Story

By now everyone has one or is repeating someone else's Charlie Sheen story. I have my own.

The first mate was telling me yesterday how lucky Charlie was to have two ladies. I told her that those girls were far too young and besides if something like that ever happened to me I'd insist that she be one of the ladies.

Big hug and kiss from the mate for me. God I love that girl.

Of course every woman has a different preferred answer to the question. So it pays to know your mate.
If you give the wrong answer you could wind up in bad trouble the least of which is sleeping alone for a month. So be careful out there.

Inspired by the dialog at The Other McCain who I was referred to by an Instapundit link.

Stacey suggests this book as an introduction to the mores of twenty-somethings.

Generation S.L.U.T.: A Brutal Feel-up Session with Today's Sex-Crazed Adolescent Populace

So what can a father do to improve the odds that his daughter doesn't join the ranks of the sluts? This site has a chart which I'm going to repeat below that answers the question.

In words: Make sure your daughter goes into something chemistry or mathematics. The worst is art major. My #1 daughter is a chemical engineering major.

Now why would it work like that? You can get a hint here: Demographics. The short version? It depends on the M/F ratio in the classes.

Surrender In The Sex Wars

Eric has written a post on how bad sex is leading to rape charges. I'm reminded of the old Albert King song "If It Wasn't For Bad Sex I Wouldn't Have No Sex At All". Truly a sad tale put to music. Don't listen to it. No one else does (you can't look it up). Too depressing.

Which got me to thinking about a piece Instapundit linked to: My Newfound Respect For Chivalry.

I saw other men treating their girlfriends and wives chivalrously and I envied those women. It looked to me like their men really cared about them, so much so that they were doing something supernumerary. As time went on, I occasionally dated men who behaved chivalrously, though usually I felt like it was just a front —“I’m trying to make a good impression” behavior. Then I had one boyfriend who was an Upper East Side prep school-type and treating women chivalrously seems to have been bred into him. There were times I liked his chivalry, but there were times I pushed up against it, too, because it still made me feel uncomfortable. It wasn’t until I started dating Mr. Jessica that I consciously decided to ignore my discomfort—to push my natural fuss-making instincts to the side—and let the poor guy treat me how he felt. In Mr. Jessica’s case, was chivalrously.

And that’s when I learned that I really, really enjoyed it.
Which brings me to a point I have been trying to write about for a month. Are women naturally submissive? Ask the question to Google and you get 658,000 answers. Not quite up there with SEX (3,530,000,000 - that is over 3 1/2 billion), but still important if you want to go deeper. Even Amazon has over 190,000 results for sex. Which proves the old adage: sex sells. It all depends on supply and demand and marginal utility (and a couple other things) to set the price.

A little looking (at the first page Google turned up) produced this gem: Submissive Women are the Rule NOT the Exception – they just don’t know it.
Those of you who’ve read the The Girls section of this blog will see that I’ve identified myself as a submissive woman, in fact, I say I’m not ashamed to say it. The reason I say I’m not ashamed is primarily because there is shame attached to the idea of being submissive to anyone in our present age. I also mention I’m girly – to me the two go hand in hand. Let me explain.
Well the lady gets all Biblical on us (it is part of the culture). And then goes on to say:
I believe the desire for a woman to be submissive to her man is innate, plus I believe women are wired to be submissive to proper authority in general. Submissive, as I see it, is described as agreement, respect, duty, or deference. I don’t personally view it as meek, passive or tameness. I believe submissiveness is a feminine trait and I believe women have lost touch with this inborn need.
Some one Asks Yahoo if feminists are cool with submissive women and the answer they pick is from some guy who has theories. Amusing. In a perverted sort of way.

So how did all this happen? How did female surrender become taboo (at least in a large part of the culture)? I have a theory - women who had been raped and man hating lesbians took over the feminist movement. But there were always exceptions. I knew a guy back in the 70s who had a six month relationship with a strong feminist lesbian and her girlfriend. Boy did I get some stories. True? False? Who knows? But I did see them together around town a lot while it was going hot and heavy. Eventually the guy married the girlfriend and the lesbian got her own husband and started a family. Weird. If you are sure human nature is fixed rather than channeled. There is always some water outside the channel and no given drop of water can be guaranteed to stay with the flow all the way to the sea (Of Love).

My take on the whole question: only the strong can surrender.

Ending Abortion

Breitbart has a post up on abortion. They are against it. Well I am too. But I worry about things like vagina police (with sovereign immunity) or God forbid the militarization of enforcement.

But I have an idea. If we paid women $100,000 a year (inflation adjusted) from conception until age 21 we could nearly end abortion. I don't know why the idea is not popular. I mean really, what would it be worth to end such a practice? We could just tax the rich to pay for the effort.

So who is having an abortion?

During that period, the proportion of abortions obtained by women younger than 20 dropped steadily, falling from 33 percent in 1974 to 17 percent in 2004. For those younger than 18, it fell from 15 percent of all abortions in 1974 to 6 percent in 2004. At the same time, the proportion of abortions obtained by women in their 20s increased from 50 percent to 57 percent, and the share done for women age 30 and older rose from 18 percent to 27 percent.

Although abortion rates have declined among all racial and ethnic groups, large disparities persist, with Hispanic and black women having the procedure at rates three to five times the rate of white women.

In 2004, there were 10.5 abortions per 1,000 white women ages 15 to 44, compared with 28 per 1,000 Hispanic women of that age and 50 per 1,000 black women. That translates into approximately 1 percent of white women having an abortion in 2004, compared with 3 percent of Hispanic women and 5 percent of black women. Jones attributed that to the focus on reducing teenage pregnancy and on increasing contraceptive use.

"We've made the most important progress in reducing teen pregnancy and abortion rate, [rather] than reducing unintended pregnancy in older women," Jones said.

The proportion of all abortions performed for white women decreased from 45 percent in 1994 to 34 percent in 2004, while the proportion for Hispanics increased from 16 percent to 22 percent and the proportion for black women rose from 35 percent to 37 percent.

"We know from other research that having lower income makes a woman more likely to get an abortion. Women of color tend to be lower-income, and so in turn when confronted with an unintended pregnancy are more likely to have an abortion," Jones said.
If the poor are having more abortions wouldn't it be a good idea to subsidize them to end the practice?

In Israel there is a group that does just that.
Inside an office about the size of a three-bedroom apartment, the walls are covered with pictures of babies and letters from grateful mothers.

In a warehouse a few blocks away, three workers pack boxes with essentials—diapers, baby wipes, formula, matzo for Passover in the spring—alongside stacks of pint-sized mattresses and rows of strollers.

Meet the unlikely face of Israel’s “pro-choice,” anti-abortion movement: Efrat, a no-frills effort to dissuade Israeli women from having an abortion.

There are no religious arguments or political lobbying at Efrat, where volunteers offer a year’s worth of services and supplies to women who choose—that’s the “pro-choice” part—to carry their children to term.

“Women on the whole, they don’t want to do this abortion,” said Ruth Tidhar, an assistant director at Efrat. “They feel like they have no choice. Our aim is to give the woman a choice.”

For a country obsessed with demographics, abortion in Israel is a surprisingly uncontroversial topic. Unlike in the United States, where it’s a perennial wedge issue, there is a consensus in Israel on making abortion accessible, if rare.

Efrat isn’t trying to change abortion laws. Instead, it hopes women will seek its support rather than have an abortion for economic reasons.

“We’re not against abortions,” Tidhar said. “We’re for women.”

Efrat President Dr. Eli Schussheim said the organization is built around former clients who, having seen that it’s possible to have a child in spite of harsh economic realities, will then counsel other women against abortion.

“This is the unique approach,” he said. “We don’t need to change laws because we don’t believe that laws can educate people.”
In America the anti-abortion crowd is for women too. From informal surveys I have done here from time to time the consensus among the anti-abortion (by force of law) crowd favors what amounts to misdemeanor manslaughter for the "provider" and the woman (who contracted the "hit") goes free. Why? Well evidently women don't have a will of their own and the "providers" are coercing women into doing something that they would rather not do. i.e. like drugs it is all about "pushers" and women and babies are innocent victims of the pushers. I expect an Abortion War will turn out a lot like the Drug War. A corrupt failure at every level.

I (like the Israelis in the story) favor private initiatives. In America we have Rockford Pro Life. Some of my readers are not entirely happy with Rockford Pro Life. There is a simple answer to that. This is America. Take the initiative. Start your own group. Me? I'm nearly full up fighting drug prohibition. I have another 5 or 10 years to go with that. But if you start a group I WILL give you publicity. Or if you know of other anti-abortion groups in America who don't have faith in anti-abortion laws - let me know. I'll give them publicity.

Women Are Not Moral Actors

I'm over at Hill Buzz discussing (in the comments) what an enforcement of anti-abortion laws might look like and said this:

Could some one tell me how a government program against abortion will work? Like the drug war?

How will you combat RU-486? Menstrual extraction parties? Birth control pills as morning after (or later) pills?

Not only that. If you put it in the hands of government you are abdicating your personal moral responsibilities.

======

If you look at it objectively (assuming that you agree that abortion is murder) it is murder one. Where the woman hires an accomplice to pull the trigger.

Suppose we put 2,000 females a year on death row for abortion? Will that create a counter movement?

And how will you handle miscarriages? As murder investigations?

====

It is all a fantasy. Utopianism. Here is an anti-abortion group that does not want government “help”.

Rockford Pro Life
Well, I got some responses. This one is a doozy (and it is not the first time I have heard it.
The problem with having women tried for murder because they had an abortion is that many women are misled or lied to by abortionists – “it’s not really alive yet,” “it doesn’t have a heartbeat”, “it just looks like a big clump of cells.” While some would freely admit they knowingly ended the life of a human being, a lot of women can only make themselves go through with an abortion by reassuring themselves that the doctor said their baby isn’t a “real person.” In order to be convicted of murder, it has to be found that you wilfully and knowingly killed a human being. If you believe – because a medical professional told you, no less – that abortion didn’t end the life of a human being, the wilfully and knowingly aspect is gone.
So the impregnated woman doesn't believe that she is carrying a potential human life? Uh. That is hardy creditable. And medical professionals as the great deceivers? Man - the devil is every where you turn. No one is safe from demon possession. Kill the witches.

The deeper seated "reasoning" behind this rationalization is that women are not moral actors. That they are incapable of telling truth from fiction. Wasn't that one of the reasons given for not allowing women to vote?

The truth of the matter is that the most rabid abortion foes refuse to follow the logic of their own pronouncements because they reel at the obvious consequences. Which is to say they do not believe what they claim to believe. So they invent fictions like: "women are not moral actors and if they are they have never heard the 'abortion is murder' line."

So how about some truth: "abortion is misdemeanor manslaughter and the woman goes free". Not quite the same punch as "abortion is murder" is it? But generally that is the current truth of the abortion foes.

My problem with all this? To give over to government the responsibility for "preventing" abortion (they will probably find a way to increase the number of abortions - it is a government program after all - if enacted) makes our moral muscles go flabby. Instead of fixing the problem in civil society we hand it off to them and can then forget about it.

In engineering we like to find the root causes of problems and fix those. The root cause of the abortion problem is not "the doctor made me do it". In this case I think the root cause of abortion is envy. "I can have more stuff if I have fewer or no kids". Another cause is the lack of fathers. And a big cause of that is how the Drug War changes the Demographics in some communities. So we could reduce abortion some by ending the drug war. But you know - that would be rational. Besides we would be just trading abortion demons for drug demons. Well you know where that ends. The demon possessed see demons everywhere.

And we could reduce abortion by eliminating envy (we could pass a law). Good luck with that. As I said in the beginning. The people who mouth "abortion is murder" are for the most part Utopians. Run for your lives and liberty. Because most of them don't mean it.

Women Are Difficult

I was reading about the educational attainments of strippers and came across a guy who said strip clubs had ruined him for "real" women.

Tuesday 31 August
By Jude

Sorry, degree or no degree, strip clubs are never worth it, and dating a stripper is nasty. I was broke in the past, because of going to strip clubs, and I feel like I cannot have a normal relationship with a woman, because of it. Damn strip clubs, do nothing but make us guys broke and go home with blue balls.
Uh. That is normal. You had some fantasy about regular sex and romance? Fuggedaboutit.

The guy has a lot to learn about women.

Female Shoots Jihadi

Yes indeed. A female police officer, Sgt. Kimberly Munley, put an end to jihadi Nidal Malik Hasan's murderous rampage at Fort Hood.

A female civilian police officer is being hailed as a hero in the aftermath of a gunman's rampage at Fort Hood — an outbreak of violence that the officer is credited with ending by shooting the alleged gunman four times despite being shot herself.

The attack killed 13 people and wounded 30 others at the Texas military post, but the carnage ended there, thanks to the quick response of Fort Hood Police Sgt. Kimberly Munley.

Munley and her partner responded within three minutes of reports of gunfire on Thursday, Lt. Gen. Bob Cone said Friday. Authorities say Munley, 34, exchanged fire with the gunman, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who remains comatose in a Texas hospital. Munley is in stable condition, officials said.

"It was an amazing and an aggressive performance by this police officer," Cone said.
Yes it was. And I'm sure it had to gall the jihadi to be taken down by one of our ladies. You don't mess with American women.

Which reminds me of Sgt. Leigh Ann Hester who together with Sgt. Timothy F. Nein charged an ambush by at least 34 men in Iraq. The final count for the enemy was 27 dead, six wounded, and one captured.

Don't f*** with our women you jihadi bastards. Because they will shoot your ass. And if you are sufficiently unlucky you will get bagged. Body bagged.

I married a sturdy Midwest girl. She likes guns. A true credit to her gender.

Poll Watching

Eve Ensler has a novel suggestion for women voters. She suggests women should

"vote with your vaginas"
You know if that becomes a fad I'm going to sign up to be a poll watcher. Just to learn first hand how it is done.

Louisa Lockhart

Lousia Lockhart

The lovely lady in the picture is Louisa Lockhart, from the UK. What I find most attractive about her, and there is a lot to like, is her million watt smile.

Since I found her, we have been in a rather animated Facebook conversation. She is just 19 and working on a degree in Marine Biology. Here is what she has to say about herself:
I'm 19, and a student at the University of Liverpool. I'm studying Biology and I hope to go into Marine Biology next year. I love any kind of music, I love my dogs, and I practice yoga everyday. I love taking photos, and also having photos taken of me! I love being naked, or in something that makes me feel really sexy. I hate tights but I love long socks. If you bought me sweet strawberry cake I'd love you forever!
Here is what I found most endearing:
I wish to become successful with my glamour model career when I am finishing my degree. When I graduate, I want to raise money for our Navy, Army and RAF.

I love the sea, and I want to live on the coast somewhere.
I promised to get her some publicity to boost her career in modeling which is why I did this post. Enjoy.

Good luck to you Louisa in what ever you endeavor.

Women's Studies

I can see the value of Women's Studies.

In fact I'm looking for a few women who wish to be studied at this very moment for incorporation into a piece of tactile performance art.

If I can get a Grant or a few thousand of them for the project all the better.

Plus to make it ecologically sound a lot grain ethanol will be involved.

I'm planning on selling the videos on the i'net.

Our Most Important Weapon

The Volokh Conspiracy is having a discussion of women in combat. Here is my 2¢.

I remember reading where being a woman in combat had a number of positive effects (in the current environment).

They connect with the females in the population better. Very helpful when fighting an insurgency.

They also shame Iraqis who are nor performing up to snuff. I mean seriously. What guy wants to be outshone in a masculine pursuit by a woman?

Or suppose the shoe is on the other foot? What does it do to the morale of our super masculine foes when they get beaten by a woman?

I understand the costs - what are the benefits? To the military. In our current war fighting situation.

It the current environment I think it has a lot of advantages that outweigh the disadvantages. The main one being that it gives women ideas. Our most important weapon.
