Global Warming Causes.....

We hear all the time that global warming causes this and global warming causes that. So what does a scientist have to say on the matter? Michael Schirber, a staff writer at Live Science reports.

Since the late 1960s, much of the North Atlantic Ocean has become less salty, in part due to increases in fresh water runoff induced by global warming, scientists say. Now for the first time researchers have quantified this fresh water influx, allowing them to predict the long-term effects on a "conveyor belt" of ocean currents.

Climate changes in the Northern Hemisphere have melted glaciers and brought more rain, dumping more fresh water into the oceans, according to the analysis.
That is not all that global warming causes. Let us look at another report from Catherine Brahic a writer at New Scientist.
Tim Boyer of the US National Oceanographic Data Center and colleagues compiled salinity data gathered by fisheries, navy and research ships travelling across the North Atlantic between 1955 and 2006. They found that during this time, the layer of water that makes up the top 400 metres has gradually become saltier.

The seawater is probably becoming saltier due to global warming, Boyer says.
So there you have it. Global warming is the cause if oceans get saltier and global warming is the cause if the oceans are becoming less saline.

I think this proves the science is settled. Any change in the environment is caused by global warming. You may now give Al Gore all your money.

I have not really looked into this case, but which oceans are getting saltier and which are getting less saline?

Evaporation might be increasing in one ocean because of increased temperatures, the thermal mass of the oceans, and there not being a great huge chunk of ice (Greenland) sitting right next to them. Other oceans situated next to the great big chunks of melting ice maybe getting more freshwater which could theoretically shut down the conveyor belt.

Another problem for the conveyor belt is not just the salinity, but the temperature of the water.

If you watch Part 3 of Crude (from the ABC science unit) they detail how ice at the poles is essential for a healthy, fully oxygenated ocean. If the ice disappears, then the conveyor belt stops which — as well as not bringing heat up to Europe — would also prevent the oxygen pump of sinking surface water at the cooler poles.

The oceans would die, food chains in the oceans collapse, and a massive ecological dieoff begin. It's all in the new "Super Greenhouse" theory that the award winning ABC science unit has put together.

Try watching it, unless of course you debunk Global Warming because you are part of the Denial Machine?

So you have to ask yourself: has the conveyor stopped before.

If so then man has just speeded up evolution a bit. If in fact man has much if any thing at all to do with it.

Humanity does not exist.

Since we are not experiencing the absolute highest temperature there has ever been, the times in the past when it was warmer must have caused more water vapor to accumulate in the air (a better greenhouse gas than CO2) leading to a runaway greenhouse effect that lead to the melting of all ice, lowering the reflectivity of the earth surface and resulting in the oceans boiling away.

We are not here.

Quite obvious, Dave.

What part of North Atlantic do you have trouble understanding, Dave?

Another problem for the conveyor belt as panic button for wormers is that it hasn't stopped. It's cylic, and its period exceeds the limited observations of the chicken little crowd who started raising alarms before the facts were in.

Dave, if you could wean yourself from sources like the award winning ABC science unit, you can find a wealth of information at Climate Audit, The Reference Frame, CO2 Science, Junk Science, as well as right here at Simon's place. Be more polite if you comment at some of these places, i.e., Try watching it, unless of course you debunk Global Warming because you are part of the Denial Machine?, or they'll eat you for lunch.

I was pondering the recent post by Tony Watts about Mount Shasta glaciers growing, and discovered a couple things puttering around with the google.
First thing - the other glaciers, in the Sierra, didn't exist 600 years ago. This blows a major hole in the claim of Micheal Mann, that the medieval warm period was just a fluctuation in the gulf stream, that mainly affected Europe.
Second thing - California's Sierra glaciers reached their largest extent in the 1880's - which reaffirms the record of the little ice age.
Third thing - Sierra glaciers retreated up until the 1940's and afterwards have remained in a holding pattern neither growing or shrinking appreciably - which reaffirms McIntyre;s findings that 1934 was the hottest year on record and also supports the contention that the period from 1880 to 1940 was warmer overall then the present.

And now I know why the Sierra club needs to go out of state to support their climate hysterics.

By the way, the enemy, and make no mistake the climate change advocates are bald faced liars who seek to subjugate you and I - this makes them the enemy of every human on Earth, now where was I?
Oh yes, the enemy has introduced special language designed to confuse and impress their victims.
Thermohaline, Ocean Conveyor
this is enemy speak for the gulf stream.
Simon, if ever you see me slipping into the sloppy usage of enemy terminology, give me a firm cold slap back to reality.

papertiger said something about Mt Shasta's glaciers growing...

It's the Lemurian influence. When the lenticulars descend to shroud the summit during the full of the moon, the mothership makes its resupply docking in support of the local Lemurian colony, and leaves a fearsome chill in the air.

I could explain it more fully, but it takes a lot of math.

I heard it throught the grapevine.

Hey Simon,

Have you considered making a series of this sort of post?
A sort of point / counterpoint of the ever shifting and contradictory prognostications of the AGW - in their own words.

Just a thought.

Tiger,

Good thought.

However, I'm pretty busy doing work on Easy Low Cost No Radiation Fusion.

So I just do this climate change stuff for fun and as the mood moves me.

What I can do is open up a new category called Climate Change Contradictions so one click can bring up the relevant posts.

This will be the first so marked.
