Waiting To Cross The Line

No Quarter has this interesting bit of gossip:

I asked a friend who knows someone who has seen the video to Michelle Obama making disparaging remarks about “white” folks. You know, those angry God hugging, gun toting mouth breathers. He wrote me the following:
But there is a very strange air about Republican operatives. In the last three weeks, I’ve talked to real insiders in VA, GA, AL and here. They all remind me of a unit waiting to cross the line of departure on an attack. Quiet, determined, last cigarette, last “can of peaches out of the ration,” radio checks, confident. They all use the term “safely nominated” when referring to Obama.
Six more days and then the real fun will begin. McCain has blunted Obama's momentum. Obama's troops are now milling aimlessly at the front waiting for supplies and new orders.

Once the counter attack begins it will be a slaughter. First a slash through the front lines and then tanks rampaging in the rear through the administrative troops.

For more of the military metaphor re: Obama see Housing War.

I'm no military historian, but that imagery is Stirring!

Come on, Simon, No Quarter? I'm about as anti-democrat and anti-Obama as you can get. But No Quarter has been pushing this story and the birth certificate story, both without ANY verifiable evidence, for months now.

I actually wondered about it and dug into the birth certificate story to see if there was any fire there--but I'm afraid it's just shaman smoke, a bunch of different accusations about it that are actually contradictory, (in one case, claims are made that his campaign edited his sister's, in another, that of one of his campaign aids, with mutually contradictory evidence to support each accusation) and now there's been some independent looks at Obama's real birth certificate (not a posted web image), with no evidence that it's just as he's stated.

I think we all want to believe it, because it makes sense to us that someone who appears to secretly hate America based on his associations and policy ideas, as Obama certainly appears to, may not actually be an American at all. But I'm afraid he may be fully an American, fully qualified to be elected, although not actually electable because of those very ideals.

So I'd say No Quarter has dug themselves a big credibility hole that would require extraordinarily clear evidence to overcome, no matter how much we want to believe

Tom,

Please read the very first line of the story. I called it gossip.

I did like the phrasing:

They all remind me of a unit waiting to cross the line of departure on an attack. Quiet, determined, last cigarette, last “can of peaches out of the ration,” radio checks, confident.

Rather evocative don't you think?

In any case Obama is so full of dirt something will come up.

And you have to admit if they have some very bad stuff on him it makes sense to wait until he is nominated.

I'm impressed with the McCain Campaign so far. Can't wait to see what happens next.
