Another Anecdote

From the comments at HillBuzz Sara P speaks

Ok, I want to clear my conscious a little. Hopefully you could make a blog post to help some fellow clinton supporters out.

I work for a campaign and can’t wait for this week to be over.

I was doing it for a job. I was not a fan of any candidate but over time grew to love HRC.

The internal campaign idea is to twist, distort, humiliate and finally dispirit you.

We pay people and organize people to go to all the online sites and “play the part of a clinton or mccain supporter who just switched our support for obama”

We do this to stifle your motivation and to destroy your confidence.

We did this the whole primary and it worked.

Sprinkle in mass vote confusion and it becomes bewildering. Most people lose patience and just give up on their support of a candidate and decide to just block out tv, news, websites, etc.

This surprisingly has had a huge suppressing movement and vote turnout issues.

Next, we infiltrate all the blogs and all the youtube videos and overwhelm the voting, the comments, etc. All to continue this appearance of overwhelming world support.

People makes posts to the effect that the world has “gone mad”

Thats the intention. To make you feel stressed and crazy and feel like the world is ending.

We have also had quite a hand in skewing many many polls, some we couldn’t control as much as we would have liked. But many we have spoiled over. Just enough to make real clear politics look scarey to a mccain supporter. Its worked, alough the goal was to appear 13-15 points ahead.

see, the results have been working. People tend to support a winner, go with the flow, become “sheeple”

The polls are roughly 3-5 points in favor of Barack. Thats due to our inflation of the polls and pulling in the sheeple.

Our donors, are the same people who finance the MSM. Their interests are tied, Barack then tends to come across as teflon. Nothing sticks. And trust, there were meetings with Fox news. The goal was to blunt them as much as possible. Watch Bill Oreilly he has become much more diplomatic and “fair and balanced” and soft. Its because he wants to retain the #1 spot on cable news and to do that he has to have access to the Obama campaign and we worked hard at stringing him a long and keeping him soft for an interview swap. It worked and now he is anticipating more access. So he is playing it still soft.

This is why nothing sticks.

The operation is massive, the goal is to paint a picture that is that of a winner, regardless of the results.

There is no true inauguration draft or true grant park construction going on. There will be a party, but we are boasting beyond the truth to make it seem like the election is wrapped up.

Our goal is to continue to make you lose your moral. We worked hard at persuasion and paying off and timing and playing the right political numbers to get key republican endorsements to make it seem even more like it was over and the world was coming to an end for you all.

There is a huge staff of people working around the clock, watching every site, blogs, etc. We flood these sites. We have had a goal to overwhelm.

The truth is here. I could go on and on, but you get the picture.

I am saying this because I know HRC was better for the country, and now realize this. I was too late by the time I connected to her. To me Barack was just a cool young dude that seemed like a star. I didn’t know him or his policies, but now I understand more than I care to and I realize his interests are more for him, and the DNC and all working like puppets with dean. I always thought a president wanted the better good for the country. The end result I see is everyone dependent on the government, this means more and more people voting for the DNC. This means the future is forever altered. I don’t see this as america, so I am now supporting John Mccain.

Sarah Palin is a huge threat, and our campaign has feared her like you can’t imagine. If it seems unfair how she has been treated, well its because she has had a team working round the clock to make her look like a fool.

this is a big conspiracy and I am so shocked that its not realized.

We released a little blurb the other day that the Obama campaign was already working on reelection and now putting our efforts towards 2012. This was to make it seem like it was above us to continue caring about 2008. Trust me, its a lie. David is very smart, but its a sticky ugly not very truthful kind of intelligence.

Its not over yet, but I think the machine is working. And its a hill to climb.

I will be quitting my post on nov 5th and my vote will be for John Mccain. Fortunately, my position has been a marketing position and I don’t feel I had any part of anything I would feel guilty for. But I look forward to getting out of this as the negativity and environment upsets me.

I wish you all well, and goodluck.

PS my name is not really sarah. but I am a female and I understand your plight.
There is only one answer to efforts like these:

Don't give it to him. Make him steal it.

with all of the slander coming from the mccain side, how do we know what this isnt just another paid mccain supporter?

And why should anyone believe you're not a Republican plant?

Frankly, I don't think it's in Obama's interest to have the polls artificially inflated, because then large numbers of Dem voters may think they don't have to bother actually voting. And then he might lose.

It's a stupid conspiracy, and I think we all know he's not stupid.

Interesting...I've been hearing the same kind of thing about the McCain campaign. "I was a Hillary supporter, but I can't vote for Obama."

I'd imagine it's an UNPAID McCain supporter...or a supposed-to-be paid McCain supporter wondering why he hasn't gotten paid in a week or two ;)

Awwe, bless your little hearts you came up with a new spin for propaganda ... I am a former baby-eater who now has reformed and am going to vote for Sarah Palin because she doesn't eat babies any more.

Pro tip: If you base your political views on blogs and spam mail, please play in traffic.

If anything, a post like this would lead real Obama supporters to believe that he's not really as far ahead as they think, and encourage them to make sure the GOP doesn't steal this thing (like they have before).

You fail.

Unless you're an Obama supporter pretending to be a McCain supporter pretending to be a former Hillary supporter! Brilliant!

Republicans+Democrats=Larger Government, more bureaucracy and less liberty for Americans. Down with the two-party system! Don't let the media elect the next President. Think independently! Vote Ralph Nader 2008!

Ugh, I can't do it anymore. :( I'm really a republican operative and was hired to go on this site and affirm that what this woman is saying is true... but I can't do it. I'm now supporting Obama.

Wow. The McCain folks aren't even putting much effort anymore. You seriously want us to believe there are scores of people who do nothing but post comments on youtube videos? Yea, they are called 13 year olds who are afraid of "being killed in the next 45 minutes" if they don't repost...

Of course Obama is scared about a McCain comeback!!! Why else would he spend what he has on a 1/2 hour prime time spot on 5 stations.

I think Obama is scared because we all realize he simply wants to redistribute wealth from the upper AND middle to the lower class. This is a man who has ridden the wave of class warfare and class scare-mongering to the top.

I am relieved that people are finally seeing the potential hazard in electing a man who will simply tax businesses to pay for his new, fresh brand of welfare. If that isn't enough, he will raise capital gains taxes. Not only will this guy punish business, he will punish all those who try to support it.

For God's sake, use some common sense and elect John McCain as President.

I supported Hillary, distrust Obama, sympathize with McCain, and detest Palin.

I am sick of, to paraphrase George Carlin, singling out the most ordinary people possible to hold the most extraordinary position in the country.

I'm voting for someone on the ballot who will most definitely not win, but whose values most closely parallel my own, and who has fought for the little guy for years. He should be the President, yet sadly, the sheeple will elect another crappy candidate.

I'm with James here, vote independently, Nader 2008.

Perhaps xxTyphoidMartyxx is not as intelligent as the rest of us, so I will spell it out:

First of all, depending on the class model used, between 25% to 66% of American households are middle class. So please, bring your inflated Huffington Post numbers back down to reality, where 95% of us live.

Second, it is not hard to take money from THE SINGLE BIGGEST POOL OF PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY. You can raise taxes only a fraction of a percent and they will not even know. They do not have accountants and such that will shelter their money as effectively as rich people.

On that same note, xxTyphoidMartyxx, do you really think taxing businesses and the top 1% will help jump start they economy? These people have more shelters for their money than America has for its poor. Get a clue, rich people are rich because they keep the government's grubby hands off of their cash.

I think the typhoid may have gone to your brain, xxTyphoidMartyxx. You may want to get that checked out.

Vote Obama for change, and that's all you'll have left in your pocket...

Personal attacks, you truly are a McCain supporter!

Congratulations to your masterful grasp of wikipedia, I was of course mentioning a bloated figure, not as a sign of typhoid fever but to actually make a point.

You can only redistribute if you have somewhere to redistribute it to. He doesn't want to give it to business, and certainly not the rich so ... all those funds are being funneled to the poor? Seems very humanitarian but I think probably overkill, I would venture your hypothesis was wrong.

Your basis for voting McCain seems to be that the rich and businesses will get to keep their money anyway so why bother trying GO McCain! I would hope the system is not as irretrievably broken, and that the middle class can actually see some relief.

Oh the name which you mentioned a disturbing number of times in your post is based on "Typhoid Mary" the first known person to carry Typhoid disease without getting sick. Way to really grasp the subtleties of that one, genius.

rt the Females as Property Movement.

Save yourself, save society and save the girlies from the tremendous burden they have been required to bear since being allowed to enter general adult society.

Some historians believe the burden commenced in 1920 when females were granted the general country-wide privelege of voting.

Sadly, as females gained various rights and priveleges their inability to accept the accompanying responsibilities has harmed those females, males and society as a whole.

The emotion-laden generally irrational female of the human species has fallen short of adult expectations.

We must remove the enormous burden from female shoulders for the good of all.

Admittedly, there IS a very small percentage of females who ARE capable of bearing the burden of adulthood in our modern society so exceptions will be made for those few.

However, easing females out of the requirements of being full-fledged adults and re-assuming their roles of yore will be a blessing in many ways and will assuredly improve the female's general happiness.

xxTyphoidMartyxx... Vastly exaggerating numbers and passing them off as fact. You must truly be an Obama supporter.

Perhaps a bit of Q & A will clear up the dense fog clouding your judgment...

Q: Who creates wealth in this country?
A: Businesses, who create jobs.

Q: Who invests a majority of money into businesses?
A: The upper 1%

Q: Who do businesses employ?
A: A VAST majority of the middle class

Q: What happens when capital gains taxes are raised and investment drops dramatically?
A: Businesses are not well funded and cannot pay bills, therefore laying off workers

Q: What happens when businesses are taxed so heavily they fail?
A: Again... They fail and people lose their jobs

Q: Who loses their jobs when the business fails?
A: THE MIDDLE CLASS!!!

Businesses, the upper 1%, and the middle class are as intimately tied together as they ever have been. Fail one, fail all.

We need to ensure that business does not fail.
fewer businesses=fewer jobs=fewer people to tax=higher taxes for people who actually have a job

Only a truly uneducated pawn would view the fate of business and the middle class as separate.

Also, I live in Wisconsin, which is one of the biggest business tax hells in America. Jobs have been flooding out of the state due to taxes. What do you think will happen on the national stage. My state is simply a microcosm for the tax hell, business hostile environment Obama will create in this country.

And by the way, I am a biophysicist and the Typhoid Mary joke is VERY lame. Everyone in the lab is having a hearty laugh at the pathetic use of puns. How is that even a joke or funny pun? The poor woman was secluded on an island and, esentially, a prisoner of the government.

If anything, I see Obama as Typhoid Mary... He'll end up killing everyone in this economy, save himself.

And please, no need to swear on the blog. Only the slowest minds resort to swearing to make a point.

Jessica,

Wrong fruit fly. The one Palin was commenting about was attracted to olive trees. She thought olive growers should fund that research.

And might I suggest that you stop reading newspapers. They are all lies and propaganda.

The best thing for the poor is a strong business economy. Stealing from the rich (as a commenter above pointed out) will not deliver that kind of economy. We should be lowering the tax burdens on the rich to attract more of them to America.

Once more Nicholas you are putting your opinion forward as fact. Where exactly do your answers come from? I don't see any citations or references so I will assume they come from you.

Sadly, your job as a biophysicist does not qualify you as an economics expert. As you are unqualified we will have to take your "answers" as one person's opinion. Let me answer some of your points with opinions of my own. Before I do though I would like to say nice job drop there - I imagine you introduce yourself to every stranger you meet as "Nicholas - I'm a biophysicist". Anyway, on to my comments:

1) The entire economy is an ecosystem. I certainly was not suggesting that the upper class and business must fall so the middle class can prosper. The argument goes however that business and the top percentile of society have thus far received too much of a break (as you yourself said, they are very good at keeping their money) and that balance needs to be redressed.

2) I would argue your point vehemently about the rich being the major contributor to business. That was Reagan's philosophy "Trickle Down Economics" was his term for it. Sadly It didn't trickle, it got hoarded. The middle class invests most in the stock market, when you take the sheer weight of numbers. They also invest most in properties (own your own home - in 30 years) and by sheer consumerism they invest most in retail. If you provide them with more tax relief, there will hopefully be a rebounding stock market, less foreclosures and greater consumer confidence.

3) I do agree businesses move where it benefits them, states give tax breaks etc which draw new business. Wisconsin sounds like it could do with more of that. This is different from the tax going up EVERYWHERE though, which is a cost of business. Also worth noting Obama is not targeting small business. Big businesses can easily foot the bill he is looking to tag them with.

As to my name being an unfunny pun, yet again that is your opinion and you are welcome to it. I feel sorry for you that you work (supposedly) in an environment where an unfunny pun is cause for hilarity. I am glad to give you the opportunity to dazzle everyone with your continued wikintelligence however.

Unknown said...

xxTyphoidmartyxx, sadly enough, small business is being targeted. A vast majority of small businesses gross over $250,000. I may not be an economist, you are right about that; however, I understand enough to realize that these businesses will get taxed based on their gross, not their net. That would be the definition of gross - taxable income.

So, after paying for infrastructure, payroll, supplies, other operating costs, and already high taxes, these owners actually do not take home that much. Trust me, I worked for a few when I was going through school and the actual profits really aren't that attractive. However, due to the fact that they GROSS over $250,000, they are taxed higher than everyone else simply based on that criteria. Slightly unfair, wouldn't you say?

I find it truly an awesome testament to Obama's character that he and his campaign have already admittedly dropped the magical $250,000 number to $75,000. Do the math my friend, that is not a lot of money these days.

He truly is for change... of his mind! He has done it with respect to Iraq, Iran, the economy, how he chose to finance his campaign (public financing), the Cuban embargo, NAFTA, illegal immigration, capital punishment, taxes, and his personal relationships. The list only goes on...

The bottom line is that when you have a bad economy, you cannot just give people money. They will not spend it and it will have no effect. That isn't my opinion, that's a FACT!

I have no problem giving money to individuals in a good economy, because they will spend it. However, in a slow economy when jobs are being lost, businesses are closing, and many others are not expanding as they would like to in order to create jobs, people are scared of losing their jobs. Don't you think this would be a great time to give business some tax breaks, so they can expand, create jobs, and give people with existing jobs a glimmer of hope with regards to job security?

Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he will eat for a lifetime.

SAME PRINCIPLE: Give a man a check, he'll spend for a day. Give a man a job, and he'll spend for a lifetime .

We DO NOT need more people depending on the government. We have only recently become an entitlement society, and that's too bad. What happened to the "bust your ass and make a name for yourself" work ethic of our parents and grandparents?

We can't tax our way out of this rut we have dug for ourselves. Instead of spending more and taxing more, how about we spend less and tax less. That would seem to be the logical thing to do, but apparently that is a bit to complex for many Obama supporters to understand.

The Cycle of Nations:
1) From bondage to spiritual faith
2) From spiritual faith to great courage
3) From courage to liberty
4) From liberty to abundance
5) From abundance to selfishness
6) From selfishness to complacency
7) From complacency to apathy
8) From apathy to dependency
9) From dependency back again into bondage
--Sir Alex Fraser Tyler, A Scottish jurist and historian

I see us between 7 and 8 if Obama is elected. How long before we get to 9?

Let's not become yet another entitlement society in which the government has a vested interest in keeping us dependant. Let's get people revved up to do what we have done in the past as a nation- work our asses off to help ourselves and each other WITHOUT relying on big brother.

Enough said.

And no, i do not see how anyone could see that name as a funny pun. Maybe being a biologist and actually knowing Typhoid Mary's sad story is what makes that especially not funny to myself and other biologists.

No offense, just everyone in the lab here found it neither funny nor clever.
