The Internet Seems Really Slow

I have had a lot of trouble loading sites for the last few days. Especially blogspot domains. I checked Internet speed and didn't find anything too unusual. Is it Comcast? Or have I picked up a so far undetected virus?

Update: 0328z 10 Dec 2009

It is a Comcast issue. I called them and the first service rep was terrible. The second, Amy, was excellent.

Solving any problem requires asking the right questions to lead to the right answers. Asking typical questions,
rather than extraordinary questions, may net zero results.

QUESTION OF THE DAY, APPLY TO ANY PROBLEM:

WHY DOES PRESIDENT OBAMA SIGN HIS NAME WITH A RUSSIAN ALPHABET LETTER O WITH A VERTICAL LINE SLASHED THROUGH IT?

Obama's signature? Probably just a Stalinist thing.

As for the Internet; a friend of mine and I have noticed high ping when playing Battlefront 2, to the point that the game keeps dropping the one of us not hosting the game. It has been getting worse the last few weeks. We both have different ISPs - neither is Comcast but both claim their service is "high speed". From the way it acts we have begun to suspect that the companies have concluded that providing broadband to people using it to read web sites and send e-mail is more profitable than providing it to people who actually use it for games or downloading things and are thus not all that concerned about actually providing broadband. One of the providers recently put in a large regional fiberoptic network so one would think things would get faster but not so. And the ads they play on the radio are obviously aimed at selling broadband to people who don't need it. They talk about sending pictures and e-mail and surfing the web faster than ever before. No encouragement to use voice apps while gaming.
