Sacrifice

Althouse has a piece up about the relative sacrifice of McCain vs Obama in the service of their country. Here is what I think:

Obama sacrificed. He sacrificed plenty.

He had to spend 20 years in a Marxist racist church to get elected. For a man without a racist bone in his body that had to be a HUGE sacrifice.

Compare that to the mere 5 1/2 years McCain was tortured by the Communists.

Whereas McCain spent 5.5 blissful years in the cushy Hanoi Hilton, getting fat off of cockroaches and only occasionally getting beaten or having his limbs broken, Obama had to endure years of the oppression and racism that are endemic at Harvard Business School.

Whereas McCain spent his days lounging around, lying in his hospital bed or frolicking with the rats in his cell, Obama was enduring night after night of hectic partying, suffering through morning hangovers, and persevering through the stressful life of a college student in Boston.

It amazes me that anyone can be so audacious as to use "McCain" and "sacrifice" in the same sentence. "Obama" is practically synonymous with selfless service, sacrifice on behalf of others, and significant achievements that benefit all.
