She Is Bright - They Are Stuck On Stupid
As you know I have covered the Sarah Palin Hong Kong speech in a previous post. Neil sent me an e-mail link to this take on her speech.
Melvin Goodé, a regional marketing consultant, thought Mrs. Palin chose Hong Kong because, he said, it was “a place where things happen and where freedom can be expanded upon.”Over a year of blackening Sara's reputation down the tubes in one short quote.
“It’s not Beijing or Shanghai,” said Mr. Goodé . “She also mentioned Tibet, Burma and North Korea in the same breath as places where China should be more sensitive and careful about how people are treated. She said it on a human-rights level.”
Mr. Goodé, an African-American who said he did some campaign polling for President Obama, said Mrs. Palin mentioned President Obama three times on Wednesday.
“And there was nothing derogatory in it, no sleight of hand, and believe me, I was listening for that,” he said, adding that Mrs. Palin referred to Mr. Obama as “our president,” with the emphasis on “our.”
Mr. Goodé, a New Yorker who said he would never vote for Mrs. Palin, said she acquitted herself well.
“They really prepared her well,” he said. “She was articulate and she held her own. I give her credit. They’ve tried to categorize her as not being bright. She’s bright.”
I have always thought that the Democrats severely underestimated Sarah. Hopefully the Democrat politicians will stay stuck on stupid.

Simon,
over at Sacramento's only major metropolitan newspaper there was a commenter on the letters to the editor page who trotted out the "Palin was bad mouthing Obama over in Hong Kong and you conservatives didn't complain about that" style of lie.
So this post came in handy for me.
Thanks much.
Devestatingly effective getting to bonk a donk over the head with a NYT's article.
That doesn't happen everyday.
Kind regards
tiger,
As always: greatly honored to be of service.
And yes! The fookin NYTs. It is like a miracle or something.
I think it was a warning to Donks not to underestimate her. Doubtful they will take the hint. They are fully stuck on the "she is stupid" meme. Too bad for them.
Thanks for the notice about your post. I've been thinking about her speech since I first read it the other day (in WSJ, I think).
What I've mainly been pondering is how the Left plans to spin her words, though I didn't bother to search out the complaints.
It is vital to their mission that she be marginalized and become a polarizing figure within the GOP. Thus, she can be destroyed politically. I think they would do it even if she were black, just as they did with Condeleeza Rice.
She has baggage the Left absolutely abhors and that the spiineless Right is afraid of.
The idea to have her give a speech in Hong Kong was brilliant. No Euro-weenies there, and it helps establish her foreign "policy" creds.
She sure has an uphill battle, though. A courageous woman to take on this mess...
I am looking forward to her campaign trail on behalf of others during the 2010 elections. Some will be afraid of her support and will distance themselves. Their loss.
