Norway has no such traditions for it's veterans. Today a number of them returned their medals in protest of the current state policy of not providing infinite-term health-care at a level above what normal citizens receive. It's fairly messed up here.
By the way - where are the 'worm in the mud' and 'defying gravity' quotes from? They seem suitably pompous to be official, but google didn't find them for me.
